Bella to be Shining Light For Christmas at Crown Glass in Nailsea

Special local youngster Bella Mildon will help ensure The Crown Glass Shopping Centre in Nailsea gives local shoppers a Christmas to remember this year.

The five year old and parents Sam and David have been selected to turn on the Christmas tree lights in Somerset Square on Friday November 15 at 6.30pm.

The Salvation Army Band will also be on hand to play seasonal favourites to help ensure visitors enjoy a happy Christmas evening, and local craft stalls in Colliers Walk will show a range of special Christmas gifts.

Bella and her family were nominated to turn on the lights by Great Western Air Ambulance, the centre’s chosen charity. Earlier this year, the Air Ambulance was called in to action to airlift Bella to hospital after she fell from a bouncy castle and badly broke her arm.  Bella, who has special needs, required a series of major operations using large pins to anchor her elbow and upper arm.  She was in a full-length arm cast for the entire summer holidays, and had follow up surgery in early September. Bella’s arm has healed well but still has restricted movement.

Kate Cole, Crown Glass centre administrator said: “Bella is well-known and very popular locally, and we also know her parents Sam and David, who were among the six shortlisted entries for our Win a Shop competition earlier this year.”

Bella’s mother Sam Mildon said: “We are absolutely delighted to have the opportunity for Bella and us to switch on the lights.”
