On Wednesday, 11 June, the Living Spit production of “The Devil & The Shopkeeper” will be performed at The Crown Glass Shopping Centre, Nailsea.
The shows, which take place at 5pm and 6pm in the former Gifted unit in17 Colliers Walk, is written and performed by Living Spit’s, Stu Mcloughlin and Howard Coggins and is told entirely in rhyme. Living Spit is Clevedon’s resident comedy theatre company and “The Devil & The Shopkeeper” is produced by The Theatre Orchard.
The thirty-minute shows are based in a world where the big brand supermarket is king and this has a detrimental effect on Jeremiah, a local shopkeeper – until a mysterious stranger comes and promises to change his life.
“The players used a shop in Clevedon earlier this year to put on one of their shows and we understand it was a great success,” says Charlotte Jarrett, Centre Manager, Crown Glass Shopping Centre. “It is hoped that their performance on Wednesday will prove as successful and that visitors to the Centre will come along and enjoy it.”
The shows are free of charge, but donations are welcomed. It is on-the-door entry and advance tickets are not available. Suitable to all ages.
The Co-operative Membership Community Fund and North Somerset Council’s High Street Innovation Fund have made the performances possible.
