Crown Glass Shopping Centre in Nailsea has launched a free Wi-Fi service for shoppers visiting the centre.
The service allows customers to use free Wi-Fi on their smartphones and tablets to browse the web, use apps and check social networking sites.
Shoppers can check out the new service – and try to win a prize – in an online quiz being held to launch the service.
Visitors who log on to the new Wi-Fi link while at the centre and complete an online quiz running until February 28 will be entered into a draw to win a mobile phone, donated by Crown Glass telecoms retailer Go Mobile.
Centre manager James Lucas said: “Installing Wi-Fi is a boost to everyone who comes to Crown Glass Shopping Centre. The shoppers get a great free amenity, and greater convenience and the stores will benefit from higher footfall through their stores with customers staying longer.”
The introduction of free Wi-Fi is the latest step in an ongoing programme to attract new tenants and shoppers to the centre, and to the town as a whole, by specialist shopping centre investment and asset manager Ellandi, which acquired the Crown Glass Shopping Centre in 2009 in partnership with Development Securities plc. The company specialises in transforming shopping centres into buoyant venues at the heart of their local communities.
Crown Glass already hosts regular events as well as supporting local and national charities. It also plays host to a Tuesday Market each week and to the monthly Nailsea Farmers’ Market and Craft Market and recently hosted the launch of a Nailsea focused loyalty card.
Muhammed Kuduse of Go Mobile said: “I was delighted to donate the prize for the launch. For many people online access is essential and it’s great to see Crown Glass providing these additional free facilities.”
Offering The Cloud comes at no cost to the retailers and restaurants at Crown Glass Shopping Centre. Customers wishing to use Wi-Fi do so free of charge. After registering, they are redirected to a branded webpage and can then surf online. Retailers and restaurant owners can also make use of the service by offering discounts and special offers to those logging on.
